# Validating

What Komms validators do on Bittensor subnet 27, and why launch needs an independently run validator.

## What validators do

Validators keep the network honest. They never serve users. Instead they:

- **Work out the truth from Kaspa** on their own node
- **Test miners** with test messages, history checks and storage spot checks
- **Audit sponsored anchors** from chain data, checking fees and limits
- **Set weights** on subnet 27, which decide how emission rewards are shared

## Why independence matters

No validator scores a miner it controls. Launch requires at least **two independently run validators**, so no single party decides rewards.
