Close your account

What closing your Komms account does, what it can't undo, and what to do first.

Closing your account is permanent. Read this page before you do it.

Before you close#

  1. Export your history. After closing, your history can no longer be freshly verified.
  2. Move or hand over any workspace or server you're the only admin of.
  3. Make sure you no longer need anything in your wallet.

What closing does#

  • Your identity on Kaspa is closed for good. Signing up again starts a new identity; it doesn't continue the old one.
  • Your username is retired and can't be used again by anyone.
  • Your personal storage is released after you've had the chance to export.
  • A small deposit that Komms paid to create your identity returns to Komms. Anything you added yourself goes where you choose.

What closing can't do#

  • Erase copies of messages other people received or saved
  • Remove the public records of your past anchors (they contain no message content)
  • Undo anything done with your account before the close

Who can close an account#

Either you, from a signed-in device, or whoever holds your recovery kit. That's another reason to keep the kit safe.

Note

Signing out, or deleting the app or your browser data, doesn't close your account.

Starting again later#

You can sign up again, but the new identity is separate, and creating it isn't covered by Komms the second time.
