Set up your first workspace

Create a Komms Business workspace, add channels, invite your team and choose a plan.

A workspace is your company's home in Komms. Everything your team shares lives inside it.

Create the workspace#

  1. Sign in and choose Create a workspace.
  2. Give it your company or team name and an icon.
  3. Every new workspace starts on Starter, the free plan.

Creating a workspace is your first action, so this is when your identity is created and you're asked to save your recovery kit.

Add channels#

Channels keep conversations organised by team, project or client. A few that work well to begin with:

  • #general for company-wide updates
  • one channel per team (sales, site, design)
  • one channel per project or client

Channels in a workspace are private to its members. You can restrict a channel to certain people or roles. See Channels, messages and replies.

Invite your team#

Send invites from the workspace settings. People who accept create their own Komms account and identity when they first act in the workspace. There's no per-seat fee and no member limit: each plan has a recommended team size, not a cap.

Bring in clients and suppliers#

On Growth and above, create a client or supplier channel and invite people from outside your company into just that channel. They see that channel and nothing else in your workspace.

Set roles#

On Team, Growth and Scale you can give people roles, such as admin and moderator, and use the admin console. See Roles and moderation.

Choose a plan#

Starter is free for small teams. When you need more storage or roles, upgrade to Team, Growth or Scale, paid yearly or monthly. See Plans and pricing.

Note

Paid plans are bought on the web, from your account, by card. Invoices are available on Growth, Scale and Bespoke.
